Looking for Dakota/ Lakota Speakers <3
Hi! If anyone out there knows of (or is a) Dakota or Lakota speaker and is interested in helping us get the errors out of this Bible so it can get back into the hands of The People, please contact us at blessedhopeministry4@gmail.com.

We are not doing this project with any agenda, nor are we doing it for money. But, we are reaching the point where we actually need someone who speaks the language. It is a project that belongs to the Dakota and the Lakota Nations. We are just the delivery people. Unfortunately, we received the packages in kind of rough shape (ie. digital scanning put a huge number of type errors as one can see from the blog posts). We have been trying to fix what we can so this beautiful language will be preserved forever in a piece of classic literature.
Ongoing:
The Gospel of John has been delivered to a Bible society in as pure form as possible. It is under review and may go to press soon; but they also need a speaker of the language to confirm the accuracy of the document before they will be entirely comfortable printing it.
The Old Testament was rife with errors; some of which look intentional and not just typographical. We are working on fixing the worst of it, it just takes a lot of time and patience. Currently, we are trying to locate and clarify the places where Wakantanka should be and make sure it is there and not some other word that does not mean the same thing.
Just so you know:
Our familiarity with the Dakota/Lakota language comes from reading the New Testament and studying the dictionaries and lexicons that were put together in the 1800s by linguists who wished to preserve the language in case the Indians were forced to use English at the expense of their own language. At least we do have some books preserved in the language of The People, though they are very hard to find and even harder to access.
In Conclusion:
We do not live near any Dakota/Lakota Indians. There are some Monacan Indians a few hours from us, and while some of them were interested, the chief they had at the time really hated the idea (or maybe it was just us she hated??) The folks who looked at the document said it was a very close dialect to what they spoke as they did originally come from the Dakota. They told us they were interested, but the chief would have to approve.
The thing is, we have tried in our area. We delivered what we had done on the document over a year ago to the Monacans. We did not hear back from them, so we kept working on it. But, we need some help.
'Till we hear from you, we will just keep trusting Wakantanka with it and waiting. We will try to keep posting any revisions on here for anyone who wants to work with it. The words of encouragement and hope are there.
