Pronouncing the words

The Lakota Language is very straightforward. The consonants are the same as basic English, the "sh" sound (as in shoe) is represented by the s with a mark over it. The C sometimes says "ch" (sometimes as in church sometimes like the German buch- like a harder ch, almost like a messy k). These are not marked as it is dependent upon dialect differences or where you are. Like in most countries, different areas vary a little in how they pronounce things. The "h" is like in English, but will say "hu" like in woahtani.

The vowels are like in Mexican Spanish- very straightforward.
a= ah (father); e= ay (day); i= long e (leaf); o= long o (hope); u= oo or long u (true)

It is a beautiful language and should not be lost just because some folks were both mean and irresponsible. If we can do anything to help preserve a beautiful language, shouldn't we?

The reason we are trying to get it fixed with the Majority Text is because the Bible is like a Rosetta Stone. Nearly every language has a Majority Text Bible, so one can easily line the two beside eachother and learn or decipher the language.

God bless y'all!
